2010.10.30 - Audrey Kawasaki
Sydney
Audrey Kawasaki's work is very remarkable, unique and outright beautiful. Haunting tales of innocent creatures. You can't just look at one of her paintings and feel nothing, they evoke a very real emotion.

When I first saw one of her paintings (online, not in person), my heart skipped a beat, and I had to stop and really look at her work.

Yesterday I went and saw her new exhibition at Outré Gallery in Surry Hills. This is the first time I saw her work in the flesh, and it is even more beautiful that I imagined.

I love the way she chooses the wood that she paints on, and you can see the faint pencil lines below the paint, where strokes may have settled, but a better one was found.

And then I asked her for a portrait, to which she said yes.

Thank you.
